Seeking Health Occupations Youth Apprenticeship (HOYA) HOYA 1 Instructor for 11th/12th grade students for 2024-2025 school year, full time in Freeport, IL. Salary: $51,156 - $57,771 commensurate with experience and education. Nine-and-one-half month position that follows the Freeport (IL) High School calendar

Duties

  • Provide leadership for activities which achieve completion of IDPH BNATP objectives
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a multi-skilled, performance-based Career Pathways Health Occupations Youth Apprenticeship (HOYA) program
  • Instruct and coordinate educational and work-based experiences for students
  • Foster partnerships and serve as liaison between educators, community, and business partners
  • Assist in recruitment of program participants
  • Prepare and maintain reports as required for the project program
  • Participate in those activities most likely to lead to continued professional growth in leadership of the project program
  • Identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the project program in meeting these opportunities
  • Provide a variety of job shadowing activities for HOYA 1 students with feedback from the students and business partners
  • Work in tandem with the program coordinator, director, and other department members to provide a consistent program for all HOYA students
  • Participate in student clinical rotations by working additional hours outside of normal class days at various facilities in the area

 

Qualifications

Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Active Illinois RN licensure
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred
  • Eligible for certification as a CNA Instructor/Trainer as required by IDPH
    • 2 years nursing experience with at least one year of providing care to geriatric or chronically ill adults as in long-term care nursing.
    • BSN degree or Train the Trainer program completion
  • 2,000 hours work experience in specific CIP-related code (Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Assistant/Aide)
  • CPR Instructor Certification
  • Experience as an educator or health education position
  • Good communication and writing skills, experience using Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including flexibility and adaptability

 

Salary/Benefits

$51,156 - $57,771 (includes TRS; commensurate with experience and education) and health benefits.
